Amelia Emma Forrest
MADONNA

Amelia and Berlin based artist Sara Lu have been collaborating since July 2016. Both with their unique styles but together have found a common language. They have their form of communicating in a space together and share a common vision, one that allows them the freedom to have a spontaneous journey with the audience. They embarked on a journey accompanied by Adam Ghaoul, and the three artists transformed the space of Birgit und Bier with a charming immersive performance about time and it's natural pressures and expectations for two women.

Premiered June 1st, 2017 at Birgit und Bier
Concept & performance by Amelia Emma Forrest & Sara Lu
Music by Adam Ghaoul (LIVE)

ADAM GHAOUL

Adam has spent hours and hours lost in the density of Berlin, listening, sharing and above all digging. Besides being Franco-Algerian and British with a proficiency In German, the language he speaks best is music. His aspiration to understand and discover everything has facilitated his awareness of unconventional production methods. For his collaborative work with Amelia Emma Forest and Sara Lu, Adam combines samples from atypical sounding records, with his own production work, fabricating an ambience in coordination to their choreography.

Two swans in a veil.
Ripples and reeds.
Washing.
Drop me into daily existence.
Behind the cloth.
My unseen pleasure.
It´s only human.
Enjoy.
Trust gathering storm.
Metamorphose into you.
                          -VEIL

Veil was inspired by fetish culture and the
unmasking of what lays underneath our clothing.
When we indulge in our unique fetishes,
is this where we are most satisfied and pure?
Is it not there that we are most nourished
and fed with our honest desires?

STEPPING STONES
Premiered March 11th, 2017 at ada Studios
Concept & Performance by Amelia Emma Forrest
Music by Philip Glass & Arvo Pärt
Developed with the support of ufaFabrik & Theaterhaus Mitte.

A butterfly cuts deep
Their wings slapping you with judgement
Eat yourself to death, gluttonous piece of shit
The cocoon shows no mercy
You will feel butterfly’s wrath
The wrath of a lifetime of weight
But stop
Come close
Look inside me
Feel inside me
I know this flap, this slap
So I will show you mercy
But will it ever be enough?
        -Stepping Stones

Stepping Stones was inspired by Amelia’s personal journey within the traditional classical ballet world, it is a telling of her experience at The Bejart Ballet School in Lausanne, Switzerland.
